Social media interaction drives customers to retailers websites

TrustedLoyaltyPartners.co.uk, polled 1,642 British consumers from around the UK, all of whom were 18 years old or older. The majority of respondents indicated that they are driven to retailers websites by social media interaction.

Consumers were asked: ‘When shopping online, what drives you to visit particular retailers’ websites?’ Respondents were asked to select the one reason which applied to them the most, with the top reasons for this were revealed as follows:

  1. Social media interaction – 38%
  2. Online advertising – 23%
  3. Discounts – 15%
  4. Loyalty schemes – 12%
  5. Broadcast advertising – 7%
  6. Other – 5%
