5 new retailers move into Whiteley
British Land and Universities Superannuation Scheme Ltd (USS) have announced a host of new lettings and an upsize at Whiteley, the retail and leisure destination in Hampshire.
Popular homeware and gifts store, Tiger, has demonstrated commitment to the scheme, as it continues to trade strongly. The brand is expanding its presence with a new 3,200 sq ft unit on a 10 year lease. Tiger has occupied a 2,200 sq ft unit since the launch of Whiteley in May 2013.
The former Tiger unit is being reconfigured and split to deliver two new stores. Jeweller, Pandora will take half the unit (1,100 sq ft), whilst Australian stationery retailer Smiggle will open its first store in Hampshire having agreed terms for the remaining half. Both retailers have agreed 10 year leases and will open in July 2015.
Specsavers has also signed for 1,650 sq ft at ground floor with a 1,400 sq ft mezzanine on a 15 year lease, joining Ernest Jones which recently opened a 1,700 sq ft unit on a 10 year lease.
Work is continuing apace on the £18 million leisure extension which is due to open in autumn 2015. Adding to the strong line-up is Asian dining concept Dim T which is set to open its second restaurant outside of London and its only outlet in a retail scheme. The operator will open a 3,267 sq ft restaurant on a 15 year lease.
The new operators will join a nine-screen Cineworld cinema, Five Guys, Nando’s, PizzaExpress and Coast to Coast. Whiteley’s second phase is now more than 90 per cent let (by area) with just one unit remaining.
