Chorley based Exact Abacus had a very successful Christmas

Chorley-based e-commerce services provider Exact Abacus delivered festive cheer to thousands during the 2014 Christmas period, shipping over 275,000 items to 90 countries across the world.

This represents a 266% increase in parcel volume over the same period in 2013. Using their in-house developed 3EX.NET back office management software and advanced handling equipment, 99.1% of orders were dispatched on the same day of receipt.

Exact Abacus works with over 120 online retail clients including fast-growing local businesses Kabo Sports, Burble Baby and Kitbox. Dispatching an average of 10,000 orders a week from its modern warehouse.

Managing director, Lee Gregson comments: “2014 signified a definitive change in the way consumers approach Christmas shopping, with Black Friday creating the strongest boost to retail sales in a decade. Unfortunately some logistics companies did not anticipate the surge and crumbled under the weight of demand. Thankfully, our forecasts were reasonably accurate and we started to scale up our capacity back in August.”

The business now employs 90 people and is planning further expansion in 2015. Gregson continues: “We’re very proud to be one of the largest employers in the area and well-positioned to take advantage of thriving demand for outsourced services.”
