Sleaford Town Team secures free digital skills training
Sleaford Town Team has announced a free to attend two-day digital skills training workshop. The workshop is available to all Lincolnshire retailers, including pubs and cafes, who want to learn more about digital trends that can help their business.
The workshop, held at the Masonic Rooms on Watergate, Sleaford, on Sunday 8th and Sunday 15th February 2015, is part of five similar ‘Growing Through Technology’ events running across the county over January and February. Organised by onlincolnshire and Business Lincolnshire, the events explore the various aspects of IT and the web that can help to push a retail firm forward.
Experienced IT and web consultant, John Owens of John Owens Associates Ltd comments: “The workshop is going to be a brilliant chance to learn more about how to use IT and the web to make and save money and improve business processes.”
“It’s definitely not a course for ‘techies’ – many retail business owners feel overwhelmed with all of the new technology out there. The workshop will help to explain the basics, making it easier for them to get started!”
As well as discussing specific issues raised by attendees, ‘Growing Through Technology’ will explore:
- How to use social media to entice and engage your customers
- If cloud computing can drive real cost savings
- How IT and the web can minimise your business costs
- Taking your business online to sell
- Options for in-shop IT
John adds, “It’s a tight timetable and a lot gets covered. The aim isn’t to get attendees all trained up, but to open their eyes to digital possibilities they may not have considered before.”
The Lincolnshire County Council funded programme is worth over £1,000 per person and includes a free individual consultation at their business premises for attendees, so they can get personal advice on how to implement their new knowledge on-site.
