Ocado announces software development partnership with Questers

Questers, one of the UK’s leading strategic IT service providers, has announced a new partnership with Ocado, that will see it help the world’s largest online grocery retailer expand its services and increase its reach.

Ocado currently reaches over 72% of British households, shipping over 1.3m items a day and receiving more than 170,000 orders every week. The partnership with Questers will allow the online retailer to continue to focus and invest in the strategic expansion of its software development arm – Ocado Technology.

Ultimately, Ocado is shifting its focus to technology to help it grow and broaden its reach into new markets, while delivering an innovative platform to consumers. The partnership will create more than 200 engineering jobs and provide opportunities for leading software developers with Java and Scala-related skills, who operate within the rapidly-developing IT services sector in Bulgaria.

Questers, an expert in providing EU-based dedicated technology teams, was chosen as the strategic partner for Ocado’s software development project due to its depth of knowledge, understanding and expertise in multi-location management. The company’s reputation for accessing and recruiting world class IT talent for tech specialist companies was also a key part of the decision making process.

Alexander Drangajov, CEO of Questers, commented: “We are delighted to announce this new agreement with one of the world’s most progressive companies. This is not a typical near-shore resourcing project, but a long term strategic partnership with Ocado Technology to grow a highly skilled tech operation and effectively deliver cutting edge solutions.”
